Create Your Own Embroidery Hoop Art
We have teamed up with The Craft House to bring you a beautiful Contemporary Hand Embroidery workshop. This is a nice and easy workshop to get you started with a range of stitches and create your own piece of embroidery hoop art.
Hand embroidery is the perfect way to relax and practice mindfulness*. Once you have learned the basic stitches, you can use hand embroidery to unwind and increase your feeling of well-being.
At this workshop you will be provided with a butterfly design and a sampler and will be taught a range of stitches, including satin stitch, back stitch, chain stitch and French knots. You will be shown how to use thread as a creative tool and given inspiration to get you into a creative flow!
There is no rush with this lovely slow stitching class, so there's no presure to complete your embroidered piece by the end of the session - you will have the materials and equipment to finish off your work in your own time, armed with lots of helpful tips. You will also leave with a contemporary embroidery pattern and the knowledge to create a number of lovely stitches which can be applied to any cloth or clothing item.

(*A little fact about mindfulness and thread as therapy - the repetitive action of stitching has offered us mindfulness therapy for thousands of years, using just a simple needle and thread. Stitching can help you to relax and take your mind away from your everyday worries. Siya recommends Emma Swinnerton's "Mindful Stitch: Generating Dialogue in and around the threads of Wellbeing" for anyone interested in the subject of thread therapy).

Skill Level: suitable for beginners aged 16+, as well as being a lovely, relaxing day for more experienced stitchers.

Cost: £50 per person - includes embroidery floss, hoop, needles, original pattern and material. All the equipment you need will be available in class and we also provide complimentary tea, coffee and biscuits.

Learn how to create your own GIANT paper flowers at this blooming marvellous workshop with us.
In this class you will get to work with a range of papers and be guided through some of the techniques of crepe paper flower making. You'll get to make your own everlasting Giant Paper Peony and learn skills that you can transfer to the making of other paper flowers.
Cost

In this print & make workshop, we are combining screen-printing and embroidery to create a collection of soft whimsical dolls.
In the first part of the workshop, we’ll be taking you through the process of screen-printing. You will choose 1 design from the 3 different Dolls and print your very own DoodleDuck Doll. Be prepared for inky fingers!
In the second part of workshop, we will then guide you through the embroidery techniques that will bring your own unique Doodle Duck Doll to life. You will also be shown how to construct and stuff your doll and will be provided with all the materials and instructions to finish sewing up the doll.

Family Friendly (child 9+)
Learn how to print and embroider with your child to create a special doll for both of you!
